Roger Daltrey announces UK ‘Who Was I’ Tour

WHO WAS I

Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham, London,
Brighton, Southend, Oxford, Glasgow, Newcastle,
Liverpool, Portsmouth, Bournemouth

A special evening of Who classics, rarities, solo hits and fan Q&A

Tickets on sale 9.00am BST Friday 10 September

One of the UK’s greatest singers and legendary frontman of The Who is striking out across the UK this November, a return to performing that cannot come soon enough for The Who legend.

“The truth is singers need to sing,” says Roger,“Use it or lose it”.

“Throughout my life I have sung with so many great musicians, from the heavy rock of The Who and Wilko Jonson, to the Irish lilt of The Chieftains. On this tour I want to take the audience on a musical journey through my career as a singer, with a show of songs and sounds that explores and surprises. I look forward to having closer contact with my audience than festivals and arenas allow. Leaving time to chat.

It’s important to get our road crew working again, without these guys the halls would go silent

It’s also clear that live music is an important part of all our lives, something to free us from the groundhog days that life has become. This pandemic has brought home to me what an important part of me singing is and it’s made me determined to get back onstage asap. See you soon!”

The show, which will comprise a unique mix of music and conversation, is built around Roger’s musical journey and encompasses nearly every style imaginable – including blues, rock, country, soul and metal.

During the evening he will dig into his incredible back catalogue pulling from his nine solo albums, his album with Wilko Johnson, and even reinterpreting a few Who classics and rarities.

This is a show for real music fans and will give a unique insight into how all these great songs came about; what the influences were and where the sounds originated. As with everything Roger does, it will be totally real and authentic and lots of it – a plethora of songs with some questions answered and rock n roll stories along the way – nothing phoned in!

    1. The Who says:

Mark, The Who Fan Club pre-sale ran from 9.00am Wednesday 8 September until 9.00am Friday 10 September. You can join the fan club any time you want. It’s particularly useful when we announce tours and fans want to get the best seats before they’re gone. You’re not being cheeky! A lot of fans do it.

  12. Walter Schoenke says:

Any chance of Roger touring the United States?

  13. Paul Desmond Phillips says:

Just tried to book for the Paladium show and in addition to the ‘fees’ they want to charge me £3.50 to collect the tickets from their box office and a ‘facility fee’.

I would like to hear how the venue justifies the collection fee.

  14. Richard says:

Got my tickets booked at the Palladium. Will be great to see Rog again. Never met him but he feels like an old mate and the warmth and love Rog gives his audience I hope is reflected back. My Dad is in last stages of life and I’m feeling miserable. If anyone can cheer me up I know it will be Roger and his band. God bless.

  15. Anthony Philips says:

You should have announced this a week earlier. I’ve already bought tickets for the Manfreds and Georgie Fame on the same night in Liverpool but I’d sooner see Roger Daltrey

This is fantastic news. Roger is an icon and this show format is so missing in music. Please make a livestream (pay is fine) for fans every where.

    Keep it rolling, Roger!

Can I still get a ticket? For anywhere in England ??????? hopefully London or Nottingham, but could travel and would gladly do so for a chance to see you and the band live!

    1. Richard Evans says:

Hi Susan, yes, tickets are still available for both London and Nottingham. Hope you make one of the shows.

  26. BASILINA FAWLTY says:

My husband has ordered tickets for Liverpool Empire on 29th, from Viagogo . He has paid £200 more than face value & appears to be resale tickets. Viagogo refusing to refund. Will these tickets be accepted by venue anyway as 3rd party sale?

    1. The Who says:

Hi Gail, you would need to check with Liverpool Empire as to their validity. We don’t recommend fans purchasing tickets from ticket resale exchange platforms. Check what your rights are with regard to refunds from Viagogo.

  27. Matt B says:

I hope Roger’s mini tour blows up. Pete’s not wrong that the current Who lost dimensions with the passing of both Keith and John. But, I just relistened to Daltrey Sings Townshend (magical tour I witnessed)…

Roger singing Sea Refuses… and on…

Pete will always be my favorite songwriter and rock analyst and provocateur…

But only Roger ever gave Pete’s writing a voice… and honestly only Pete’s songs ever unleashed Roger’s voice. Bizarrely wonderful intersection.

Give Pete his freedoms… cursed with multiple talents and beautiful grand visions.

Sing your heart out to the infinite sea,Roger… 100 dates a year… for you and unfortunate teens.

  28. Antony Gardner says:

I would love Roger to come to Wales ???????

  29. roger li sua autobiografia; vi o quanto voce aguentou para se tornar a estrela do rock e a importancia no grupo, quem vem de baixo sabe como é,

  30. Richard says:

I am emailing regarding the concerts Roger is performing in either Manchester or Nottingham last year to enquire if it would be possible to arrange to meet with Roger before or after the concert.

As well as been massive fans my family are also big supporters of Teenage Cancer Trust.

We did the TCT film and TV advert Francescas story and was really looking forward to meeting Roger at the Albert Hall concert but then covid hit. My eldest is also now an ambassador for TCT.

Anyway. If there is anything that can be arranged that would be amazing.
