Back in 2013 Who fan Eric Fischer got in touch with Rob Lee to discuss Eric’s project about a drum tutorial aimed at teaching aspiring Keith-Moon-type drummers to play drums the way that Keith did. Sadly with Rob’s passing last year Eric’s project got put on the back burner (or back on the tour bus), but I’m delighted to let you know that here at long last are Eric’s tutorials with videos of Keith playing at regular speed, 75% speed and 50% speed plus the sheet music and accompanying MIDI sequenced MP3s at various speeds to ‘Young Man Blues’ and ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ so that, with a bit of practice, you can learn to play ‘The Keith Moon Way’.

KEITH MOON INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO. PLAY ALONG WITH THE WORLD’S GREATEST ROCK DRUMMER!
Like many drummers and Who fans, I am an admirer of Keith Moon’s musicianship and drumming technique.  Over the years, I have noticed a lack of video material that focuses solely on Keith’s unique drumming talent; therefore, I have put together a package that examines his playing in depth.This package is unique in that it allows the student or fan to clearly see and hear every note played by Keith.  I have achieved this by using MIDI sequencing, which also allows Keith’s drum parts to be slowed down for further analysis.  Included in the tutorials are slow-motion videos of Keith (with MIDI soundtracks), sheet music transcriptions, and MIDI sequenced MP3s at various speeds.  The idea being that students can watch the videos to observe Keith’s playing at slow speeds, and then play along with the MP3s on the drum set while reading the sheet music, gradually working towards 100% speed.  Keith’s performances included in this package are ‘Young Man Blues’ from 1970 and the drum break of ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ from 1978.  Sit back, enjoy and let Keith Moon show you how it’s done!
