Heading for retirement – A statement from Pete and Roger

The Who are heading for retirement, whereas Zak is 20 years younger and has a great future with his new band and other exciting projects. He needs to devote all his energy into making it all a success . We both wish him all the luck in the world.
Scott Devours – Who fans will know him from Roger’s solo shows – will be replacing Zak. We hope all our fans will welcome him.
Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey

Hate to not have Zak aboard, but I understand if he has commitments, and it will be better for his future. Loved all Zak’s Drumming. I have attended Roger’s solo shows, and Scott is a Fantastic Drummer in his own right, and as a Fan welcome him, as this final Farewell Tour Kicks off. I will be with my wife and Son Paul who is 8 for the final show at the MGM Grand in Vegas, never Dreamed I would attend a Who concert with my son. We will be sitting in the risers Pete’s side cheering Y’all on. Thanks to Pete and Roger for all the Fantastic music over the years. Wishing you both the Best in whatever you decide to do from here. We are with you.
Happy Birthday 🎂 Pete Townshend 🥳
What can we say ? All the love in the world to you all ‘ you have given so much. 60 years? What happened there?
ALSO,an AMAZING 80th birthday Wish for Pete.
Catch this Love On The Air … xxx
Welcome Scoot Devours. He is a out of the ordinary drummer. He did the Quadrophenia tour some years ago. I went to the Verizon at Washington DC. and it was a fantastic show. The band gave me a upgrade and i was able to choose between the balcony or the main stage. I will never forget !
Love you. All good things must come to an end. The Who, and solo stuff has filled my life, since I bought The Who by Numbers as a 14 year old boy in 1975.Now I am 64 and luckily I bought a ticket for the Milano show this summer. Maybe the last show in Europe? Thank you for the music, the stories and your engagement. ♥️ From Kim Bjerg, Denmark
waiting on the UK dates so I can get my tickets
Really wish Simon came on board as the drummer for this last chance tour. Simon plays Pete’s arrangements better than any drummer alive. Not sure if he was an option? But having seen every iteration of the Who Simon took Pete’s arrangements to the next level.
I am disappointed that Zack will not be drumming. I think the best choice if you could have got him would be the drum you had for a little while Simon Phillips. Definitely one of the best drummers I’ve ever seen. That would have been a great ending. The main thing is we get to see them one last time and I don’t care if it’s just a total amount there with the guitar and a tambourine. Have at it boys!
The WHO were leaders of the 60’s and 70’s movement for peace, justice, and overcoming the Empire! Good try lads! I love your spirit and music and vision!
When I saw Roger opening his North American tour in Vancouver at the Commodore Ballroom in 2006 I was blown away by the drumming of Scott Devours, especially on The Real Me and Young Man Blues. I saw The Who six times with Zack on drums, and I always felt that Scott’s style of drumming sounded more like the original sound of The WHO. So I am very excited for this change on their final tour…
I remember winning a raffle for tickets to the WHOs Farewell Tour in Vancouver around 1978. Winners were published in several pages of the Vancouver Sun. A fantastic farewell performance 😂
Thanks to Zak for great memories during the years. That said, I am also looking forward to see the great Scott Devours, whom I have seen twice: On Rogers solo show at Valdemar Castle (DK) in 2011 and at the Qudrophenia tour at the O2 in London 2013.
See you in Milano guys!
Love from Kim Bjerg, Denmark
Goodbye to the best rock n roll band in the world. All the way from Murray the K to the MGM Grand. Don’t know what the scene will be like without you. One things for sure you will never be replaced. Give us one more go and bugger off. We love you.
I can’t find anywhere on the site to “Contact Us” so I’ll just put this here instead. The upcoming Live at the Oval album? Meh. Live albums don’t mean much to me. Now live VIDEO, that would be cool. What I would have rather had instead of either though was a 50th Anniversary Edition of Quadrophenia (your greatest album, imo) in Blu-Ray audio, Atmos, big hardcover book, basically the whole nines like we got with the Who’s Next Lifehouse edition. Yeah, yeah, I know you did the “Director’s Cut” of Quad 14 years ago but I missed out on that one unfortunately. So, a 50th anniversary of Quadrophenia would really make my year.
Dear Pete, I’m a 64 year old guy who has loved you for most of my life since 1979. When John Lennon died, I graduated to The Who. The great songwriting I missed with the passing of John was replaced by you and The Who. You actually brought
music to a transcendent level for me! The music, the messages, the musicianship, and the stage performances were unparalleled. Every time a new release and a new tour came about, the excitement was captivating. I first saw you guys in ‘79, and since that show in LA, I’ve seen various combinations of you guys 20 more times. As much as I admired Roger, John and Keith (having never seen him live) I always admired you so much so that I considered you the greatest songwriter/performer I’ve heard and seen. I’ve had a number of tribulations in my life. It’s all good now. But, through those times of hardship, you were always available to bring me relief and happiness. God bless you Mr. Pete Townshend, the greatest musician, songwriter, and performer in my life.
Ya know, I first got involved with music at the age of 7 when my parents provided me classical piano lessons. So, I really feel my opinion is somewhat valid. I realized my understanding of music is dwarfed by your talent and gifts only given by the Almighty. Thank you Pete. I hope to see you either in Boston at Fenway Park (I live on Cape Cod) or in Vegas for the last U.S. show. I look forward to seeing you and Rog for the last time with joy. Thanks with all my heart!
Bought my first Who record when when I was 13 in 1978. Live at leads! Blew me away. Thanks Pete and Roger for getting me through my adolescence with lyrics that spoke to me, the beautiful and unique melodies and and the sheer raw energy that matched teen angst. One final show for me and my wife at MSG!!! Rock On!
Wishing you guys a happy retirement! I’ve been a WHO fan since 1965! saw the band live many times! You’ve had a brilliant career! Thank you for all the music! God bless The Who!
Please Please Please are you doing a UK farewell tour?
