Today, one of the greatest bands in rock history, The Who, have announced their bittersweet final tour of the US and Canada as a truly grand finale of their illustrious six-decade career. Full tour routing and ticketing information is available below.
The legendary duo are revealing the news live during a press conference at the Iconic Images gallery in Piccadilly, London. Fans can tune in now (CLICK HERE ) to listen to Roger Daltrey & Pete Townshend discuss the 2025 series of dates, aptly titled The Song Is Over North America Farewell Tour (named after The Who’s 1971 classic song).
The secret press conference in London is showcasing a rare piece of Who memorabilia and US connection, an American football helmet featured on the sleeve of their classic 1974 album, ‘Odds & Sods’ recently returned from the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall Of Fame.
Roger Daltrey says: “Every musician’s dream in the early 60’s was to make it big in the US charts. For the Who, that dream came true in 1967 and our lives were changed forever. The warmth of the American audiences over the years have been inspirational to me, and reflect the feeling I remember getting after hearing the first rock records coming across the radio. Musical freedom! Rock gave us a feeling of generational rebellion. To me, America has always been great. The cultural differences had a huge impact on me, this was the land of the possible. It’s not easy to end the big part of my life that touring with The Who has been. Thanks for being there for us and look forward to seeing you one last time.”
Pete Townshend says: “Well, all good things must come to an end. It is a poignant time. For me, playing to American audiences and those in Canada has always been incredible. The warmth and engagement of those audiences began back in 1967 with hippies smoking dope, sitting on their blankets and listening deeply and intensely. Music was everywhere. We all felt equal. Today, Roger and I still carry the banner for the late Keith Moon and John Entwistle and of course, all of our longtime Who fans. I must say that although the road has not always been enjoyable for me, it is usually easy: the best job I could ever have had. I keep coming back. Every time I do, I meet new fans and feel new energy. Roger and I are in a good place, despite our age, eager to throw our weight behind this fond farewell to all our faithful fans, and hopefully to new ones who might jump in to see what they have been missing for the last 57 years. This tour will be about fond memories, love and laughter. Make sure you join in.”

The historic 2025 The Song Is Over tour will mark the final face-to-face celebration of this timeless connection with North American Who fans, forever appreciative of the band’s ability to dispense with nostalgia and deliver authentic rock moments time and time again.
Further proof that the duo is still at the top of their game could be gleaned in a 2024 review of their performance at the Teenage Cancer Trust’s historic annual concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall, honoring the work of its founder, Roger Daltrey, who stepped down from his curatorial role after 24 years. One reviewer of The Who’s performance called it: “One of the most joyous bombastic concerts London’s magnificent Royal Albert Hall has ever seen…”
America’s love affair with The Who live began 58 years ago when the band were part of ‘Murray The K’s Music in the Fifth Dimension’, a series of showcase events at RKO’s 58th Street Theatre in New York over nine days in March and April 1967. The band played just three songs (‘I Can’t Explain’, ‘Substitute’, ‘My Generation’), and other acts on the bill included Cream, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Simon & Garfunkel, and Wilson Pickett. Later that summer, it was at the seminal Monterey International Pop Festival in California that they rose to prominence in a defining moment of the Summer Of Love. Two years later, The Who were once again front and centre at the most famous festival of the ’60s, Woodstock, performing an incendiary set in the early hours of August 17th, 1969.
The Who continued to thrill US fans throughout the 1970s before undertaking their first ‘farewell’ tour in 1982, which featured two shows at the legendary Shea Stadium in New York. When the band returned to the road in the late 1990s and early 2000s perhaps one of their greatest performances was at The Concert For New York City at Madison Square Garden shortly after the terror attack of 9/11, their three-song set in front of emergency workers and first responders was met with a primal roar from an audience. When Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey were given the Kennedy Center Honors in December 2008 for their contributions to American culture, a tribute performance of ‘Baba O’Riley’ was delivered with a full choir of New York firefighters in gratitude for The Who’s performance at the show.

Why are they not coming to Denver? They have a fan base here too! It would pull people from Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, Nebraska and Kansas. That’s a huge swath of America to leave off the table. For a lot of folks a destination vacay to see them elsewhere just isn’t possible. Please get this message to their agent.

You ever heard of RED Rocks. I have been listning to the WHO for a very long time and have almost all of your albums on record im a young fan and just think you should consider the denver area. There is no better place to be on a fairwell tour then one of the most legendary venues in the universe RED ROCKS APATHETERE MORRISON COLORADO.
I enjoyed listening to the Live Press Conference posted. ‘This Song Is Over’ is an excellent title for The Who’s last grand North American tour. I’m amazed The Who has out lasted as a music band and composed extraordinary works of music for an incredible 60 years! No doubt when I first saw The Who in concert at the Madison Square Garden, New York in 1976 I thought The Who’s performance was outstanding. It brings me an enormous sense of nostalgia whenever I reminisce about that particular Who concert I attended. I regret having to say that I no longer have the convenience of living in the New York area to see The Who in concert. Still, I gladly have The Who’s entire extraordinary works of music on CD and streaming to listen to. I will always love and remember The Who. Best wishes to Pete and Roger for The Song Is Over tour. Keep in touch. And, if possible, post The Who’s concerts’ footage.
Thank you so much Pete & Roger for all the music but more than that was how you made us feel and think about what you were singing about! I can tell you that personally as a young man dealing with so many insecurities and issues that we go through at that 18-25 years old it was your music and specifically Quadrophenia, the Greatest Rock Album of all time in my opinion got me through those times and It was comforting that someone else knew and was singing about those struggles in life! I’ve always said there are millions of rock bands, but no band touched all the emotions of a man or woman! Rebellious

I been a Who fan since the beginning. Like Roger, I too am going blind and deaf. This will be my farewell tour as well. I hope to get tickets. It’s amazing that time has past so fast for “My Generation” It was a great experience, and I do remember it very well having been there. It truly was the “Magic Bus”. Well, no Texas show so I’ll be heading to Chicago again, just like in 2016 and 2022. The overnight Amtrak trip from New Orleans is pretty cool if you don’t travel Coach and the reward will be there: my 29th Who show, this time with my buddy Mark who lives in Joliet and claims to have seen them 200 times! That may be so but he never got to see them with Moonie, so I’m up 3-0 on him in that regard. Long Live Rock!
I don’t guess ill ever see The Who. I guess I was just born in the wrong error man. wish you guys would come to Tennessee.
Just a suggestion, as a tribute and a way to pay respect to fellow musicians and acquaintances throughout the band’s career that are no longer with us. It would be nice if photos could be shown behind the band while they play a slow version of My Generation. Or any other song that seems appropriate.
Who are the players in this tour? This will be Who show #12 for me. The 2016 show in Seattle astoundingly great -it was on May 15th and saw an epic 5:15 – with my kid who would have been 15 at the time. You can’t make this stuff up. That show had no orchestra, 3 keyboard players. The last one in Climate Pledge in ’22 also killer! 1996 at Tacoma Dome blistered too………
I saw The Who’s “last” show on their “farewell” tour in Toronto. Bought a shirt that said “We Won’t Get Who’d Again”…Thankfully I’ve been Who’d some twenty plus times since 🤘🏽

i grew up listening to the Who. they’ve been one of my favourite bands since high school! i graduated 10 years ago and have been lucky to see the Who in concert a couple times. once i went with my dad and we both cried. music is a huge part of my life and the Who has been monumental in shaping “who” i am as a person today. much love to you all, including those no longer with us. thanks for the memories and Long Live Rock!

I listened to Who’s Next every day after school in the early 70s. Won’t Get Fooled Again is arguably the greatest smash rock song ever. And the other hard and gentle rock lyrics of so many Who songs captured my heart and soul. Have been around the world since 1980 to see them many times. Will be with you in Toronto and Vegas. Well, just attended my first Who concert in Sunrise, the first of the tour. My wife is an avid fan. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Roger still has his voice….
Once passed Pete Towsend coming out of Hotel Bel Air in LA, said hi Pete. He looked at me like he thought he should know me, but I was just trying not to be a rabid fan, which I am. Last saw them at Desert Trip. Going to the final show in Las Vegas. Thanks for all the great music Pete and Roger.

I was 6 years old when my mom took me to see The Who and that was 1973. I told her that night at the concert that I was going to marry Roger Daltry and she just laughed and every birthday she gave me posters for my wall of The Who. Well, I never got to marry Roger but no one on earth can sing like him even to this day. Love them so much and have all of their albums since childhood

My heart was sad and full of joy at the same time. I’ve seen the Who every tour except one since 1982. The song is over. Congratulations to The Who on 61 years and playing over 2600 concerts over those years. No band has moved me more. I started listening to the Who in 1978, and they always remained my favorite band.
During the last song Pete and Roger did their song Tea and theater. That’s when I choked up. These gentlemen went from youth to frailty before the world, and left one of the greatest imprints in Rock and Roll history.
