The Who announce their release for Record Store Day 2021

This year’s release from The Who for Record Store Day 2021 is an expanded two LP set of their 1981 album Face Dances celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2021. LP1 is the original album with its nine tracks. LP2, entitled Face Dances Part 3 has another nine tracks. The 2LP set was mastered by Jon Astley at Close To the Edge and cut at half speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road.

The album cover features the original Peter Blake design front and back. LP1 is on bright blue heavyweight vinyl with coloured labels and LP2 is on bright yellow heavyweight vinyl with coloured labels. In addition there are four 12″ x 12″ fine art prints included in the package with four portraits on each print.

    In 1981, this was the first Who album I ever purchased so it holds a special place in my heart. Don’t Let Go The Coat, Daily Records, and Another Tricky Day are especially good.

    Great album, it deserves a re-run there are a few classic tracks on it like the follow up album It’s Hard both with Kenney Jones. I hope it will be out on CD.

    Despite of what the so called “critics” wrote about this album, i do like it very much. I know this is a “special edition” but i do prefer a CD copy, (since my record players are all damaged). I would have been cool to include “Dirty Water” (a Pete plus Kenney recording). Anyway, this album is still very popular due to You Better You Bet being a huge popular single.
