Keen anticipation for the Who’s UK tour of ‘Quadrophenia and More’ which was announced yesterday, is growing, with tickets being snapped up by fans in the current Pre-sale. This is not surprising, since the band’s curent tour of North America has received rave reviews, confirming that The Who are on top form and have created visuals and staging to deliver what is probably the definitive arena version of Quadrophenia.
“Whether you are a mod, a rocker or even a mocker, The Who’s “Quadrophenia And More” concert Friday night at the TD Garden was a rock ‘n’ roll lover’s dream come true,” writes the Boston-based telegram.com. “…The video monitors flickered black and white snapshots, old newsreels and vintage film clips from the World War II and post-World War II era, which made the past and present, as well as The Who then and now, magically share the same space, collide, and become one.”
“Some fans surely groaned when they learned the Who were trying it (Quadrophenia) yet again on their 2012 tour,” writes Rolling Stone, “but after nearly 40 years, the band finally got it right.”
The tour announcement was reported last night on UK BBC TV News, featuring part of an interview with Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend by reporter David Willis.
