Not so complicated…….

You guys know I’m writing. I’m doing a bunch of stuff. However, the ides of February approaches and everyone around me is piling on pressure to get some idea what my plan is. I don’t have a solid plan. But after a talk with Roger yesterday we came up with a wish-list style plan. We still like the idea of playing Japan – especially as Amazing Journey has yet to be released there and we might be able to give it a push by performing there around the time of the release this Autumn. We also talked about revisiting Quadrophenia the way we did it in the ’90s. This is all work for the Autumn. Roger is working on his own idea for an album for us, with the producer T-Bone Burnett, who is an old friend of mine. I am hoping to come up with some songs for a more conventional Who record. There is a chance we might play some shows in the Festival season this summer. I would want to do that purely for fun, and I don’t want to turn it into a big tour. I need to stay focussed on my writing. Anyway, thought you’d like an update. Rachel and I have had sad news lately. Two women we know have died this week from cancer, one (Meg Fox) a sterling Who and Rachel and In The Attic fan – the other news was an old friend of mine who has lung cancer. So there is a real sense of gratitude at being healthy and alive, and a desire to make this year a good one if I can.

  1. Dear Sir,
My name is Giancarlo Tempesta.I just wanted you to know how you saved my life, from drugs and alcohol. As a teenager i suffered from sereve depression. I thought that everyone was like me. Your music saved me without getting involved in that crap.
I meet you once it was the mid to late 1980 in a club in Manhattan. You where speaking to a pretty blond girl about 18 years of age at the time. You where drinking a heinichen beer, and my brother Marco yelled out your name he said”HEY PETE”. You just turned around and looked at him. You read him very quickly. He is not a seeker, but when you looked at me you paused for a moment and read me in 3 seconds. You then turned back to talk to the blond girl again.
Mr. Townshend, I still listen to who are you. I am now 49 years old. Into all religions, hindi, buddist. All because of you. We all seek god all you have to do is look deep within yourself. You are my biggest mentor.
    Regards,

    Giancarlo Tempesta

    Hi Pete,
I doubt you really recall Meg, my mom, very much or me and my siblings for that matter. I was really young when she took all of us to meet you and Rachel at a Barnes & Noble in New York around 07′. I just wanted to drop in and express to you now how grateful I am for you and the entire band. You guys all made my mom’s life fun and joyful until the very end.
I just wanted to say thank you, for making it all just a little easier for her.

    Cheers,

    Emily Fox
