KEITH MOON GETS COMMEMORATION PLAQUE, AT LAST

Back in May 2008, Keith Moon was not deemed worthy by English Heritage of their coveted Blue Plaque award. But now, thanks to the determination of Who fans, led by Melissa and Gary Hurley, all’s well.

After many years of labouring and perusing a dream Gary and Melissa Hurley spear headed a movement with the backing of the Heritage Foundation (David Graham-Chairman, Robin Gibb CBE-President) convincing Westminster City Council to give permission for family, friends and fans to honour legendary rock drummer Keith Moon.

On Sunday March 8th 2009, a commemoration plaque was placed at the site of London’s spiritual home of Rock and Roll back in the swinging 60’s, the ‘Marquee Club’ at 90 Wardour Street, London W1.

The plaque was unveiled on behalf of Keith Moon’s family, many of whom were at the ceremony, by his mother Kit and Roger Daltrey.
