ATLANTA/DULUTH, GA – Thu Apr 23, 2015:
Technically, the show was in Duluth, GA which is not far from Atlanta; a favorite stopping point for past Who shows. Originally in the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium, The Who grew comfortable filling the big Omni years ago. We’ve been to the Gwinnett Center here once before, and it’s a good-sounding, spacious room. Sold out tonight.
What to say; despite numerous issues onstage, this was (by far) the best experience yet. Mostly due to the audience, but as usual, the crowd/band cycle fed the musicians to add that extra amount of juice to their performace. Again, sonically, there were some serious things not-so-perfect, but it doesn’t really matter when everyone had such a good night.
One new (old) song in tonight, rehearsed just briefly, having not played it in a long time. ‘Bargain’ is back. A classic hard rocker from the heyday of Who album rock. Mis-used ? on a car commercial years back (as it’s a song about giving things up to attain spiritual peace) it’s the sound and feel of it that really grabs so many people.
As usual, the most memorable moments may not be musical, because the banter onstage we so entertaining. Certainly feeling comfortable all night, Rog and Pete were certainly talkative! Some highlights below:
